"Why I go to church on Saturday"

I can go to church on Saturday or any other day for that matter. The issue here is not about "when" to go to church but - "why."

http://www.glowcentral.org/why-i-go-to-church-on-saturday-2/

By the heading alone, one can see that this is a personal opinion of an SDA writer. There is no such thing as a wrong opinion since it is just what the guy thinks, but what really shocks me is how the writer can twist the truth in the Bible to push the doctrines of his church. I'll point out his lies one by one.

LIE #1: "I go to church on Saturday because it is biblical..."

Biblical fact: The ancient Israelites, to whom this law/covenant were given where never commanded to attend church. This is what they were commanded to do on Saturdays:

"Bear in mind that the Lord has given you the Sabbath; that is why on the sixth day he gives you bread for two days. Everyone is to stay where they are on the seventh day; no one is to go out. So the people rested on the seventh day." Ex 16:29, 30.

LIE #2: "This day is called Sabbath and corresponds with Saturday. It was given to humankind at creation about 2,000 years before the Jewish people existed."

Biblical fact: The "Sabbath" law was only given at Mt. Sinai:

"Hear Israel the decrees and laws... It was NOT with our ancestors that the Lord made this covenant, but with us, with all of us who are alive here today... remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy..." Deut. 5:1-21

The Sabbath commandment was given 430 years after God made a covenant with Abraham:

"The law introduced 430 years later... it was added because of transgressions..." Galatians 3:17-19

LIE #3: "So why do most Christian churches worship on Sunday... tradition... the Bible never records God changing Sabbath from the seventh day to the first. This change came in long after the disciples died."

Biblical fact: The Sabbath was never changed from Saturday to Sunday. Up to this very day, since it was given at Mt. Sinai to the Israelites, it still is the seventh day Sabbath. One just has to go to Jerusalem to see this truth. All Jews down through the centuries have kept this day holy. Christians are gentiles and never in the Bible were the non-Israelites part of the Sinaitic covenant. The gentiles were never commanded to keep a specific day holy.

"One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord." Romans 14:5

LIE #4: "Reason two - love"

Biblical fact: The Jews were not required to obey the Sabbath law out of love to Jehovah. They were conditioned to rest on the Sabbath out of fear.

"and while the children of Israel were in the wilderness they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day... The Lord said unto Moses, the man shall be surely put to death... and all the congregation brought him without the camp and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the Lord commanded Moses." Numbers 15:32-36

LIE #5 (The biggest and most damnable lie): "The Sabbath is a special sign of this salvation."

The author is actually saying that observance of the Sabbath and salvation are inseparable and that without the sabbath there is no salvation. This is the highest form of blasphemy against the blood Jesus.

Biblical fact:

"I do not set aside the the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!" Galatians 2:21

"You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace." Galatians 5:4

"know that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified." Galatians 2:16

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is  not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2:8, 9
